Is the quality of Holga 135's really variable?
I bought a 135BC. I only put three rolls through it before giving it up on it & putting it in the trash. I expected a soft image, but I never had a really decent en-print.
I have seen people's Flickr photostreams with work done on a Holga 135/135BC and they were far sharper than what I managed to produce. I was using a monopod as well!
A Holga 135 is not cheap either. You can get one as cheap as a 120N, they are usually around 30% more expensive. I went through four Holga 120N's to find a good one. I won't be doing the same to get a acceptable Holga 135. The damn thing also scratched the film.

For the optical performance of a 135BC I can stick a ancient Meritar 50mm f 2.9 triplet on my Praktica MTL3 and shoot around the widest aperture for the same edge softness.
Or my 120N loaded with Tri X Pan or Fuji Superia 400.

I have our Relay For Life this weekend.

Being it's in its 10th year, I want to document it a bit. So I'm going to shoot with my digital camera, my iPhone, some videos and I want to break the Holga out.

Alas, I'm wondering about it at night.

I have the flash on my camera, but I am wondering what it would be like to use 3200 film. I don't have a cable release for it. I could attach it to a tripod, but don't know how it would be if I held the shutter in bulb mode. Basically, I want to get some shots of the luminary ceremony and such. It's all black except for the luminary bags, which is pretty powerful, if you've never been to a Relay For Life.

Once the ceremony is over, the "track" is lit up by massive overhead lights and I'd look to shoot more photos at that point, so hoping that would give enough light for 3200 film. But, of course, in a Holga I can't control the speed! So I don't know if it matters.

Does anyone have any experience with it? Should I just skip buying 3200 film and get a couple rolls of 400 and look for better light?

Thanks for any thoughts/tips etc.!
